The Madpolecats, a family band featuring a unique blend of bluegrass instruments with a variety of musical styles, will be headlining the second annual Arts and Ales Festival in historic downtown Columbus on Sunday August 4th. The event will feature a live music stage showcasing the Madison-based band along with The Stellanova’s, Steve Schad, Big Bang String Thing and Ron Denson as well as local artisans and vendor booths.
A beer tent offering craft-brewed beer from Hydro Street Brewery of Columbus as well as Stonefly Brewery of Milwaukee, Sweet Mullets Brewing of Oconocomowoc and One Barrel Brewing from Madison will also be serving their beers.
Sandye and Aaron Adams of Hydro Street Brewery initiated the event in 2012 which is hosted on International Beer Day to help broaden the horizon of the local business spectrum and to help raise funds for the Columbus school district music program. This year we are proud to announce another sponsor, Wisconsin Dual Sport Riders, who are donating their time and resources to benefit the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
Hydro Street Brewery will be serving smoked ribs, and brats and burgers will be served by the American Legion. A bake sale will also be sponsored by the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Other scheduled activities include a kid’s activity tent, homebrewer’s competition, bean-bag tournament and poker tournament. The event will take place from 10 am to 9pm on Dickason Boulevard in front of City Hall and the Columbus Senior Center.
